LYMINGE ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Association's A.G.M will be held on the 24th September 2003 at 8.00 pm in the clubroom of the Village Hall in Lyminge. As residents in Lyminge you are all part of the Association but to ensure fair representation we have a Committee of individuals of ail ages that meet on a monthly basis. We discuss new fundraising events and ways in which we can enhance and improve village life for all.

Any monies raised by the Association from the Newsletter and any other events it holds such as Coffee Mornings, Garden Safari's. Christmas present distribution and many other events goes back into your Village and it's Organisations. All members give their time free however, we are always looking out for new Committee Members to ensure the longevity of the Association.

Come along to the AGM and see how you can help.

PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS

There will not be an election for the 2 remaining vacant seats on the Parish Council. The Etchinghill Ward seats received only one nomination and therefore the nominee will be duly appointed Parish Councillor. Due to these circumstances we still have a vacant seat for the Etchinghill Ward. We would welcome interested residents to contact us for further information. Please call Cllr Glenn Floyd on 862732.

PHOTOGRAPHIC WEEKEND

How would you capture the parish in a photo?

You might have seen in previous newsletters that we're starting work on a Parish Plan, to set out what we want for our community over the next few years. Part of that is drawing attention to what we already have all around us - and what better way to do that than in a photo?

We're organising a series of Photo Trails when we'll be going to different points in the parish with a local artist and photographer to see what we each feel inspired to photograph. The Photo Trails will be taking place during the weekend of:

20-21st September

So please come along and help us capture images from across the parish - from Etchinghill to Wheelbarrow Town, from Shuttlesfield to Skeete. We'll use the photographs you take to create posters and postcards to celebrate our local landscape and the settlements within the parish, and to illustrate the Parish Plan, due to be published next summer. Images wilt be displayed on the village website and at exhibitions later in the autumn.

Car park. Lyminge Library
Saturday 20 September 9.30am

Forestry Commission Car Park, Lyminge Forest
Sunday 21st September 9.30am

We'll start each Photo Trail with a short explanatory briefing, and local artists will be on hand throughout each day to help and advise. Please bring your own camera and film (If you would like to come but don't have a camera please let us know, and we can supply one for the day).

Everyone is welcome, experienced or otherwise, including children - who should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. I To give us an idea of numbers we would be grateful if you could sign one of the lists held at The New Inn, Etchinghill, Lyminge Post Office and the Lord Whisky Animal Sanctuary. Rhodes Minnis - or email Catherine Hughes on hughescatherine@yahoo.co.uk for more information.

To place a notice, a report or a date for the diary in the newsletter, the rates are £1 for an unboxed entry or £1.50 for a boxed entry. For regular announcements, 12 months for the price of 10 are available if paid in advance. A half page entry is available for £7.50, or full page for £15. These rates apply to all charities, organisations and individuals. For business advertising, please see business column below. The notice, together with appropriate payment, can be taken to Lyminge newsagents or to the library, or you can email the editor: sarah_huntley@hotmail.com. The copy deadline is always the 18th of the month, for entry into the following months edition. If you are organising an event to be held very early in the month, then we recommend that you advertise in the preceding issue as we cannot always guarantee delivery by 1st of each month.

Many thanks to those who participated and to the many visitors who came along to enjoy the show and partake of the refreshments Particular thanks to the Newington & Hythe Gardening Society members whose exhibits were a welcome addition to the numbers. A special mention to Marjory and Chris, at very short notice they became "clerks" for the day and did an incredible job, alt the certificates and cups went to the right competitors! The table competition with Newington in July resulted in a narrow victory, by one point, for Newington Gardeners. We were well looked after by Newington Club members and had an enjoyable evening. We'll try harder next year to be victorious!

BUSINESS ADVERTISING NOTICE
The monthly rate for placing a business advertisement in the newsletter is £5 for an unboxed entry and £7.50 for a boxed entry. All entries must be paid for by time of publication. 12 months for the price of 10 are available if booked in advance. The front page of the newsletter can be sponsored for £30. All business advertisers must either live in or trade from the distribution area of the newsletter i.e. be able to provide a home or business address in the Lyminge, Etchinghill, Postling. or Rhodes Minnis area. A mobile business based outside of the area but which could operate here as part of its work. e.g a tradesman based in Folkestone, would not fit this criteria. Apologies to anyone who may be adversely affected by this rule, but by being strict we ensure fairness to everyone and retain the interests of readers and advertisers.
